The 66R has a vintage-inspired design. A full, dark tone makes this a versatile option for jazz, blues and electric styles. It features drawn & rolled tone holes allowing better resonance and an enlarged bell to compliment an already warm, fat sound.
The Mauriat 66R combines a full, warm tone with a versatile response.
This Custom Class "Vintage Series" tenor features an unlacquered finish (UL), rolled tone holes, beautiful abalone shell key touches and high F# key. The unlacquered look is in keeping with the vintage tone this model is famous for. The larger bell and lack of lacquer further encourages a full bodied, powerful tone.
It is rare to find rolled tone holes on a modern sax and these give a noticeably quieter key action and extended pad life.

There is a distinctly different character to the 66R unlacquered when compared with the lacquered versions; this is a sax with more grit and drama - there’s something more vibrant and exciting about this version of their flagship horn. Jules - SAX

The 66R was one of my favourite horns for powering through the band. Now they've removed the lacquer and added metal key touches so the biggest just got bigger! I must to confess to being a little sceptical about the metal key touches but wow, they do make a difference! More metal = more resonance and there is even more body and power here, especially noticeable in the higher registers plus they feel and look great. Phill (Sax.co.uk)
When I got my P Mauriat, for the first time in my life I felt inspired to play on a horn other than my old Selmer. The sound of PMXT-66R is very warm and I get more volume and flexibility. Jakob Dinesen
I recommend the P Mauriat to players who are looking for a vintage sound and feel, but modern intonation and keywork. The sound is really outstanding. PMXT 66R has its own personality. Adam Klemm
It has such a great combination of resonance, clarity, and a wonderful even sound from top to bottom. It is a one-of-a-kind horn that elevates my playing to another level. To say that I love it is an understatement. Darren Rahn
