The Quasar Hard Rubber mouthpiece represents a new chapter of sound possibilities; pure power, projection and unashamed brightness is what's on offer, but still with a dose of core and 'bottom'. Featuring an all new 'Vibra table', allowing the reed to vibrate in its fullest capacity, there is simply no hiding place when you play full bore on this mouthpiece. It produces a statement sound, and you need to be comfortable with the ride!
The ten indentations on the table, known as the Vibra Table, have been designed to allow the reed to vibrate more efficienctly. We also have a prolonged high baffle, for masimum cut and brightness, while dropping into well-defined bullet chamber to rebalance the sound and increase the weight of the mids and lows. There is a shorter facing curve than we see on most Jody pieces, helping to give us a more readily available altissimo.
So called Quasar to represent the brightest known object in our universe, capable of releasing unimaginable power and energy - that's the feeling you will have when playing this mouthpiece!
If you are looking to cut through any mix and create a Sanborn-esque soloist vibe, then this piece will not dissapoint!
On a technical note, Jody recommends that you choose a tip opening one step higher than you are used to, simply due to the fact the higher baffle and short facing curve allows the reed to respond that much more readily. This can also be paired with a slightly softer reed to create a balancing effect.
