THE CHEDEVILLE RC TENOR SAXOPHONE MOUTHPIECE CREATES A WARM AND RESONANT BEAUTIFUL SAXOPHONE TONE WITH EXCELLENT CONTROL AND INTONATION.

Chedeville... does it ring a bell...? Remember that once great Parisian mouthpiece producer? Well Charles Chedeville's company has been revitalized under the ownership and guidance of Jody Espina, of JodyJazz Inc, and they are back producing high quality mouthpieces of a classical leaning. Their new range, including the Chedeville Elite Series Bb Clarinet and the Chedeville RC Series Saxophone mouthpieces, have been developed through months of research and analysis of legendary vintage Chedeville mouthpieces, combined with years of designing and producing high-quality, consistent, mouthpieces.

While JodyJazz Inc pull inspiration from great mouthpieces of the past, they hold a much more contemporary view with regards to their environmental impact and carbon footprint. As such their range of durable, reusable and aesthetically pleasing Bamboo canisters offer a great alternative to the common plastic/cardboard of most company’s - they really stand out! JodyJazz recommend keeping reeds or other accessories in the canister, should you not be using it for your mouthpiece, making it a really reusable and handsome storage solution.

Jody's new range of Chedeville mouthpieces are manufactured entirely at their factory in Savanna, Georgia using CNC machines and artisan mouthpiece finishers to create fantastic quality mouthpieces. The company is focusing on consistency as it's number one priority, and to ensure this they have instituted what they claim to be the most rigorous and precise measurements and play tasting in the industry. The Chedeville line will ultimately offer a complete selection of Classical Clarinet & Classical Saxophone Mouthpieces.

STAFF REVIEW

I thought it would be interesting to line up this mouthpiece against known favourites in the classical world, such as the Selmer S80. I was interested to see that it has a much bolder and more prominent tonality in the context of this style of ‘close-tip’ mouthpiece. Whereas the Selmer mouthpiece is very dark and veiled the Chedeville feels like it unleashes an extra layer of upper harmonics in the sound spectrum, whilst still retaining a refined and focussed quality of tone. And I’m sure that the use of high-grade hard rubber contributes towards the overall resonance and really adds to the performance value that these pieces offer. Great job Jody! - Jim - sax.co.uk
