Rampone & Cazzani’s Solista alto paves the way for a new level of elite saxophone building. Copper material throughout and finished with their famous 24 carat gold plating. This model has been designed with a greater ease of playability, and while opening the door for classical players, has an exquisite tone that can transfer to any style of playing.
The Solista is made from pure copper throughout. It is then completely gold plated, including the keywork. It has a specially designed neck which features a different bore shape to the regular necks used in the R1 Jazz range, offering a lower resistance and generally increasing the ease of performance. Due to this new direction in sound Rampone have intended this saxophone to appeal a lot more to classical players who look for an intricate control, especially at lower dynamics. However, the sound is typically multi-dimensional and will adapt to any style of playing. There are beautiful finishing touches shown throughout, such as five of the key guards being copper plated, drawing reference to the underlying copper material. The look is completed with a beautiful art deco engraving.

Staff Review
This is the best Rampone alto I’ve ever played. The combination of the free blowing pure copper, the gold plating and the re-designed neck put this sax on the top shelf as far as I’m concerned. The tone is full, and sweet at the same time. Typical of Rampone instruments, it feels like there are so many tonal possibilities within the sound and within the different dynamic ranges. The key action is beautiful and light (right up my street) and I really think that this new model is going to rival the highest-level saxophones around.
