Selmer Paris has a rich tradition of producing some of the most iconic saxophones ever made. Legendary models may come and go, but one thing has always remained constant: evolution.
The new Signature Soprano represents the latest stage in that evolution. Developed from the Series III soprano, it introduces significant acoustic and mechanical improvements while incorporating several of the innovations first seen on the Supreme range.
Replacing both the Super Action 80 Series II and Series III sopranos, the Signature now becomes Selmer Paris’s definitive professional soprano saxophone.
Drawing inspiration from the Series III
Since its introduction in 1993, the Series III has played a defining role in the development of the modern soprano saxophone. Selmer has wisely retained the essential character of this much-loved instrument while refining the areas that can make soprano playing particularly demanding.
Redesigned straight and curved necks, together with important changes to the tone-hole network, produce a warmer and more rounded sound with greater consistency between registers. Intonation has been further refined, the upper register feels more stable and the low and right-hand registers respond with greater reliability.
The result is a soprano that feels immediately accessible, allowing the player to relax and concentrate more fully on expression.
The Signature also possesses a strong visual identity. Its intricate Art Deco engraving draws inspiration from the tools, flames, technical drawings and templates used by generations of craftspeople at the Selmer Paris factory. It is a fitting tribute to the traditional skills behind every instrument, presented with a distinctly modern finish.
Acoustics, Mechanics and Ergonomics
The Signature Soprano offers a warm, rounded and open sound across the entire range, avoiding the excessive tonal edge that can sometimes be associated with soprano saxophones. Its broader tonal profile and increased projection give the instrument plenty of presence while retaining the refinement and flexibility expected from Selmer Paris.
Intonation is exceptional even from the lowest notes through to the upper and altissimo registers. The increased stability of the high register is particularly noticeable at softer dynamics, while the dependable response of the low register and right-hand notes inspires confidence throughout the instrument.
Two interchangeable necks are supplied. The straight neck provides a direct, precise response with a rich tone, while the curved neck offers greater roundness and allows the player to adopt a different playing position.
The new neck receiver uses a three-point concentric clamping system to create a more secure and consistent connection between the neck and body. Its separate nickel-silver tightening ring can be adjusted and adds greater density and strength to this acoustically sensitive area.
A redesigned octave-key mechanism with Teflon supports provides a lighter, smoother action while reducing mechanical noise and wear. Natural mother-of-pearl key touches, leather pads with riveted metal resonators and fine-gold-plated metal thumb rests complete this beautifully refined setup.

The clamping ring of the socket is made of nickel silver, which brings density to this sensitive area. It is dissociated from the socket, which makes it possible to adjust its position.
The direct arm between the right-hand F# and F keys allows for a finer and more reliable adjustment

Lightening of the C# correction system by repositioning the double tone hole
