Retro Revival has re-created the infamous Double Ring Otto Link with painstaking accuracy

Back in the 50’s this classic gem of a piece only had a short production run and was used by many greats, including Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Johnny Griffin, Dexter Gordon, Michael Brecker and many others. Using the finest examples of original pieces and combining with modern CAD technology/CNC milling Retro Revival have made these classic pieces available to everyone once again!

The Super D New York has the slightly lower baffle profile (in comparison to its Florida cousin). It's gold-plated and finished in every respect to mimic the original Link design. From the bite plate through to the ridge on the top, this mouthpiece plays almost precisely the same as a pristine and quality example of a Double Ring that it was based on. Typically, you might pay over £1000 for one of these originals when they rarely come up on eBay. Now you have the opportunity to buy one for half the price!

"Having had a good trial session on this mouthpiece it feels like RR have captured the essence of a classic mouthpiece. They look pretty similar to a modern STM but play quite different – much more core, more projection, more tonal variation as you move through the dynamics. Incredibly even through the range, the altissimo feels like a natural extension of the range as opposed to something that’s added on with its own sound. 

It’s incredibly flexible and feels like it just moulds to whatever style you are playing in – primarily you think of jazz when presented with a mouthpiece like this, but it branches out into much more modern idioms and with this it goes wherever the player takes it.
