The hottest ebonite mouthpieces in the line. Designed with a small chamber, high baffle and a big bore for an increased sound impact and edgy tone comparable to metal mouthpieces. Extremely versatile: from hot jazz to blues to funk to rock. Recommended for use with Java or V16 reeds.

Tip Opening/Facing Length

A35 (2.06mm/Medium Long Facing) - Very bright, with fine precision and control.

A45 (2.20mm/Medium Long Facing) - Particularly recommended for rock and fusion playing.

A55 (2.47mm/Long Facing) - A perfect marriage of chamber and facing makes this mouthpiece "state of the art" ( fusion).

A75 (2.60mm/Long Facing) - An open mouthpiece, with large and bright sound.

Staff Review

Jumbo Javas are made with a somewhat different design agenda than most ebonite pieces. The Jumbo is an ebonite which sounds like a metal 'piece- Bright, loud & with plenty of 'kick' to them. Despite this they are an extremely easy to play- and feel quite unusually freeblowing. For power and projection these are in the same league as metal 'pieces such as Dukoff or Berg Larsen (plus, like other high baffle pieces, they are great for altissimo playing). They're not just screamers however, with a little practice it is quite possible to 'tame' them and get a full, warm tone from their sax. An ideal choice for blues, rock, fusion or the extrovert end of the big band spectrum.

Vandoren Mouthpieces

What has impressed with the range of Vandoren mouthpieces is the quality and clarity of the sound produced. With good reeds and a good ligature these mouthpieces feel very comfortable to play and really help the sax player to maximise his or her potential. There are a wide variety to choose from whatever style of music you are into. They are professional quality mouthpieces in every way at an affordable price.
